Fashion Friends!

As I was walking to class the other day, out appeared a TON of garments in the lobby. I recognized two pieces from senior collections that belonged to two friends of mine. The next day we got an email saying that award winning garments from years past were being displayed as part of Philadelphia Fashion Week. How exciting! Check out both pieces I snapped.

This fabulous piece belongs to Jillian Garvey. This dress won her Best in Show at our 2010 Fashion Show. I've known her since our freshmen year and she is seriously so talented. She currently designs for Free People, a testament to her talent. Her pieces are always so feminine and pretty, perfect for their brand.

This piece is by Amanda Vereb from her senior collection. I wish I had gotten a better picture of this menswear jacket! Her collection was inspired by Nip/Tuck and she won two awards: Faculty Choice and Excellence in Menswear for this piece among others. Another super talented lady!

Check out her freelance stuff:

I unfortunately cannot attend any fashion week events in the city because of my work and school schedule. I seriously need to get there, they're picking up steam. Lots of amazing area designers and Mitchell and Ness! Mitchell and Ness designs contemporary sports clothing, including some amazing pieces for the Phillies. The Philadelphia Collection has a great list of the events that are still left for Philly Fashion Week.
